ABUNDANCE OF GRACE

Pastor Corner

ABUNDANCE OF GRACE.

Welcome to the month of May! It has been declared the month of GRACE. My prayer for you is that you will enjoy multiplied grace upon you in Jesus name.

The truth is that Redemption as we have been discussing is a product of God’s graciousness. Grace is said to be God’s riches at Christ’s expense. Meaning that redemption is a product of God’s grace and it’s also the access to enjoying the super abundant overflowing dimension of grace.

In the last few Sundays, I have drawn our attention to God’s agenda for redemption like Rescue from sin which makes it impossible for us to remain under the rulership of sin. A believer is not supposed to be at the mercy of sin rather we ought to be its’ master knowing that it’s one of the reasons for redemption.

Another agenda I will not fail to mention is the restoration of man back to the original fellowship or union we had with the father before we all fell into sin and lost the glory. Truth is that we lost more than a garden, we lost unhindered access to God which we had before Adam committed the high treason. Thank God that we now have the Holy Spirit living in us and the restoration of the fellowship we lost in Adam. Glory!

John 1:16 says that “And of his fullness we all have received, and grace for grace”. This means we can grow in grace as it comes in different levels. Grace, from the word Charis means Unmerited Favour or Undeserved Goodness. That is what we are offered in Christ. It’s an offer that we need to receive or lay hold of or take by faith. In Romans 5:17, Paul said those who receive the abundance of Grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life… To enjoy Grace, we must learn how to receive it.

Another meaning of God’s grace is empowerment. It means to operate and excel beyond your natural ability. Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV) said “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

He said he labored more abundantly meaning he went beyond the natural human measure in order to accomplish all that God did through him. Grace amplifies and multiplies our result!

In the new testament, we have to realize that the way to receive what has been provided for us in Christ is by faith. Now faith works by speaking. Romans 10:9 says with the heart man believes and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We must engage our tongue to enjoy what has been provided for us in redemption because of God’s graciousness. It is the word that you affirm with your mouth that gets confirmed in your life.

Dear reader, my admonition for you this month is to speak Grace. Think Grace. Confess Grace. Expect Grace. The temple cannot be completed without the shout of Grace Grace to it. Zechariah 4:6-7. Take advantage of what God has freely offered to you by his Grace! My prayer for you is that Grace and peace will be multiplied as you grow in your Knowledge of God and Christ. Amen!

I call you blessed!

God Can Handle It, Even When I Can’t!

Hello Children! Welcome to another Sunday! We hope your week was filled with joy and kindness.

Let’s open our Bible to Ephesians 2:10 (TPT). Have you found it? Great! Now listen carefully as I read:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

Now it’s time to gather with your friends, choose your character and start our role play activity.

Micheal: Ejiro, I studied so hard for the quiz, but my score was still low. I don’t get it.

Ejiro: Aww, sorry Michael. I had a moment like that too. I rehearsed for the cultural dance and still forgot the steps during practice.

Michael: That’s exactly how I feel, like I’m helpless.

Ejiro: You know, I learned in Bible class that feeling helpless isn’t always bad. Sometimes it means we’re learning to depend on God.

Michael: But what about effort? Aren’t we supposed to work hard?

Ejiro: Of course! We put in effort, but we also trust God with the result. That’s what today’s verse says! We were created to do good works that God already planned.

Michael: So even if things don’t go my way, God can still use it for something good?

Ejiro: Exactly! My mummy from Warri says, “God dey work silent silent, but e result dey loud!”

It means God might be working even when we don’t see it.

Michael: That’s like my uncle who planted maize and waited weeks without seeing anything but the maize still grew!

Ejiro: That’s how God works. We try our best, but He’s the one that makes everything truly grow. We can rest in Him even when we feel helpless.

Michael: Hmm… I like that. I’ll keep doing my best, and I’ll stop worrying. I’ll say, “God, I trust You.”

Ejiro: Me too. Let’s always remember “We are His workmanship!” He’s working on us.

Assignment:

1. What’s one thing you feel helpless about?

2. Say a short prayer asking God to help you trust Him with it.

3. Write it down and share with your parents or teacher this week.

Time Management

If there is anything I have struggled with as a woman, it’s time management. I’ve heard a lot of people (men especially) say my inability to get rest or work on ideas I have is due to my lack of proper time management.

This month as we celebrate women and mothers in Global Harvest Island, I want us to discuss time management.

Women always find themselves struggling with time, if it’s not work/ business, it’s the children yet we still have to play the role of wives. Nowadays, women often juggle their 9-5 jobs with different side hustles. Yet society expects much from us – perfection in every aspect of our lives.

Does that mean that proper time management isn’t achievable for a woman? No!

We know that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). To manage your time effectively, do these things;

  • Prioritise tasks – accept that you won’t always be able to complete every item so it’s probably best to start with the most important ones
  • Minimise distractions – this doesn’t always mean another person or loud noise, it could easily be the unfolded pile of clothes, the toys sprayed all over the floor, etc. Whilst working on one task try not be be distracted by another task, stick to your priority order and when possible zone out everything else
  • Take meaningful breaks – much easier to write and say than actually do. Peace is where you find and connect with God, and often that might involve sitting still, taking 20 mins to sip a cup of ice lemon tea, taking 5 mins longer in the shower, slowing down once in a while
  • Learn to say No and ask for help from others – No explanation needed on this one

Biblical poetry

Deflect the Glory to God

Part my lips good Lord
Let me be cognisant of your blessing upon my life
Equip me with the ability to speak coherently
To clearly formulate my words
So that their comprehension of your influences is significant.
To communicate with confidence
My dependency on Gods purpose for my life

Open my eyes good Lord
So that when you reveal yourself to me, I see you.
Not through my human eyes, but through my spirit eyes
Teach my spirit to recognise your presence,

To understand your teachings.
Allow my spirit to gravitate towards you,

To sit gingerly at your feet,

As I cultivate a stronger relationship with you.
John 6:63

Awaken my mind good Lord
To the power of forming new habits
That leads to a pattern of consistency.
Push my mind to connect with the spirit and direct my flesh.
Enable my soul to know how to acquire life-changing content
Still me when I sit with your scripture so that I draw understanding from it,
Translate the words so that they transform into reality

as my spirit comprehends their true meaning.

Beat on my heart good Lord
Feed my cells with oxygen and remove sin from my body.
Anchor me o lord so that I deflect all glory to you
Resting in the knowledge that you are the pillar that I lean against
Rising each morning knowing you provide the ladder for me to climb up and
Resisting the temptation to stand tall in acceptance of praise wrongly awarded to me
Rejoicing my way into humility.

Health and Wholeness: Understanding Mental Health

Mental health is just as important as physical health. It affects how we think, feel, and act, shaping the way we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. From everyday stress to more serious conditions like anxiety or depression, taking care of our mental well-being is vital for living a whole and purposeful life.

Signs and Symptoms of Mental Strain
Mental health challenges can show up in different ways. Being aware of the signs is the first step to healing. Some common signs include:

  • Feeling sad, empty, or hopeless for an extended period
  • Constant worry or fear
  • Irritability or mood swings
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Physical symptoms like headaches or fatigue without a clear cause
  • Withdrawing from friends and loved ones

Steps to Protect and Support Your Mental Health
The journey to emotional wholeness doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Here are some practical ways to support your mental well-being:

1. Talk About It
Speak to someone you trust—a friend, a loved one, or a professional. You don’t have to carry it all alone. Opening up often brings relief and clarity.

2. Create Healthy Routines
Set a simple daily rhythm that includes time for rest, movement, nourishing meals, prayer or quiet reflection, and meaningful connection. Routine builds stability.

3. Stay Active
Exercise helps more than your body—it improves your mood and reduces stress. Even a 15-minute walk outdoors can lift your spirit.

4. Nourish Your Spirit
Spending time with God in prayer, worship, and His Word brings peace that surpasses understanding. When we are weak, He gives us strength.

5. Seek Help Early
If your emotions are overwhelming or affecting your ability to function, don’t wait. Reach out to a mental health professional or counsellor. Help is available, and healing is possible.

A Call to Compassion
Mental health challenges are not a sign of spiritual failure or weakness. Let’s build a community where people feel seen, heard, and supported—without shame or judgment. As believers, we’re called to carry one another’s burdens with kindness and grace.

Conclusion: Wholeness Through God’s Grace
God desires for us to be whole—body, soul, and spirit. In Isaiah 26:3 (NIV), we’re reminded: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Peace of mind is God’s gift, and through faith, support, and wise choices, we can embrace it.

May we steward our mental health with courage, care, and prayer.
Let us walk daily in the assurance that God is near, and His healing covers every part of who we are.

Stay grounded in the Word of God, never forsake the gathering of believers, and stay fired up.

Conclusion:

As children of God, our redemption is rooted in God’s love and accomplished through Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice on the cross, Christ paid the price for our sins, reconciling us to God and freeing us from the bondage of sin. This redemptive work brings us forgiveness, salvation, and a restored relationship with our Heavenly Father.

How?

  • Christ died in our place as a substitutionary atonement. His death was to bring us back to God’s agenda. Romans 3:25 (NIV); “God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood, to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished”
  • We are forgiven and pardoned through faith in Christ. Ephesians 1:7 (NIV); In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
  • Reconciliation: We are reconciled to God, restored to a right relationship. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NKJV); Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”

Through Christ’s redemptive work, we experience freedom from sin’s bondage, peace with God, and eternal life.
