THE HOLY SPIRIT

Pastor Corner

THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Dearest Harvester, welcome to the month of September. As we begin to wrap up the year 2025, I would like to remind you that it is not time to lose hope concerning the things that you have planned for the year that have not materialised. Hear this, God is never late, rest assured that he is working all things together so that his purpose and plan for your life will manifest.

The anchor scripture is “And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” John 14:16 (NKJV). This has resonated more with me this season as we continue to bask in a season of favour. It is obvious that the best way to position and enjoy the season is to be aligned with the Holy Spirit. Just as Esther only asked for what Hegai, the King’s eunuch advised her on, and received favour from everyone that saw her; we enjoy the favour that God has surrounded us with as a shield according to Psalms 5:12.

As Jesus was wrapping up his earthly ministry here on earth, he began to speak about the Holy Spirit as another Comforter or Helper to his disciples. Thinking about this, I realise that if we are to enjoy this life that we have in Christ, we cannot ignore the place of the Holy Spirit in our lives. I will mention five dimensions of him that we must be acquainted with since he’s with us forever.

  1. His PERSON; it’s important that we don’t see him as wind, force, dove, fire, oil or any other symbols that we have used to describe him. These things point to his nature or character but really he is a person. Not inferior to the son or the father in the trinity. He’s to be recognised, reverenced and referenced in our walk with God.
  2. His PRESENCE; closely connected to his person is knowing his presence in our lives. He is not with us temporarily but permanently except we reject him and the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. David caught on to this revelation when writing Psalm 23:4, he recognised that God’s presence is assuring!
  3. His PURPOSE; this speaks to the core of his assignment in our lives and we can take a cue from the various meanings of the word Parakletos which was employed by Jesus. It means he is here to Help us, Comfort us, Counsel us, Console us, Intercede for us, Assist us, Be our advocate speaking for us, and to be Our Standby (to fill the need not covered).
  4. His PRODUCE; Paul said God is the one that works in us through the person of the Holy Spirit to will and do of his good pleasure. Galatians 5:22-23 teaches about the ‘fruits of the spirit’; the fruits we produce. The outworking of the fruit of righteousness is only made possible by the Holy Spirit in us. With his presence in our lives we become proof producers.
  5. His POWER; many times when we speak about the Holy Spirit, we also talk about his power. Acts 1:8, Acts 10:28, 1 Corinthians 2:4, Luke 1:35 and more speaks to the fact that the Holy Spirit is the real Power. He is the power at work in us that raised Jesus from the dead and elevated him to the right hand of the father. When the church becomes conscious of the power of the one that lives in us, defeat will be far from us.

Dear reader, to know him is to trust him. You cannot surrender leadership of yourself to someone you do not trust. Let’s explore more about him this month and beyond so that all the purpose and plans of God for our lives for the rest of this year can come to fruition.

As declared by our father in the Lord, the Global Lead Pastor of this commission, God will give you SHOCKING testimonies that will cause the ears of those who hear it to tingle!

I call you blessed!

Setting an Example

Hello children! Welcome to another beautiful Sunday! How many of you know you’re never too young to make a big difference? Let’s open our Bibles to 1 Timothy 4:12. Have you found it? Good! Now listen carefully:

This verse was written by Apostle Paul to a young man named Timothy. Timothy was just like many of you, but he was also a leader in the church. Some people looked down on him because of his age, but Paul reminded him that God can use anyone, no matter how young they are!

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT)

This verse teaches us that being young doesn’t stop us from being good examples. Whether it’s how we talk, behave, love others, trust God, or stay pure, we can show others what it means to follow Jesus—right now, at our age!

Now, let’s see how this plays out in real life. It’s time for our role play.

Zara: Phew! Sunday school was on fire today! I feel like the verse hit me right in the chest.

Ethan: Same here! “Be an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity?” That’s a full-time job o.

Tofunmi: But it’s worth it. I had to learn the “speech” part this week. My cousin annoyed me and I almost called her a goat. Almost. But I remembered the verse and just walked away.

Zara: Wow, I need that self-control. I roasted someone at football yesterday. He tripped and I shouted, “Even my slippers can run better!” My coach gave me that holy look like, “Sister, really?

Ethan: I messed up too. During the test, my seatmate tried to show me answers. I was tempted, but I remembered “Be an example in faith.” I covered my paper and whispered, “God, help me o.

Zara: Respect, Bro. That’s deep.

Tofunmi: What about love? This week I helped that girl in my class that no one talks to. She’s always alone, but I just felt like God was nudging me. We played ten-ten together. She even smiled.

Zara: That’s so sweet! You’re setting an example in love, Jare. Me, I’m still working on purity. Not just big things, but like what I watch and how I talk online.

Ethan: Yeah, like not laughing at those rude jokes in group chat. Even small things count.

Tofunmi: My mummy says, “God sees the heart even when people don’t.” We can’t be perfect, but we can try to live like Jesus one step at a time.

Zara: You know what? We’re young, yes but God still wants to use us. So let’s not be small-small in character.

Ethan: Big age or small age, big example!

Tofunmi: Let’s keep setting an example; in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

All three together, smiling: We may be young, but we’re not too young to shine for Jesus!

Assignment:

Which of the five areas; speech, conduct, love, faith, or purity, do you think God wants you to grow in this week? Write it down and talk about it with a parent or teacher.

Pray this short prayer:

Dear God, help me set an example in the way I speak, live, love, believe, and stay pure. Use me, even as a child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Honor your temple, keep preventable diseases at bay!

Immunisation, also known as vaccination, is the process by which an individual’s immune system is strengthened against infectious agents.

Vaccines introduce a weakened or inactive form of a disease, training your immune system to produce specific antibodies. This “mock” infection prepares your body to quickly fight off future exposure, preventing or reducing illness severity.

There are two types of immunisation

  • Active immunisation
  • Passive immunisation

Active immunisation involves the body’s own immune system creating defenses, either naturally after exposure to a microbe or artificially through vaccination.

Passive immunisation involves directly introducing pre-synthesised immune elements, such as antibodies, into the body. This method is quick but short-lasting.

Immunisation offers individual protection against serious diseases, fosters community protection through community immunity, contributes to disease eradication (e.g., smallpox, nearing polio), reduces the burden on healthcare systems, and provides economic benefits by preventing absenteeism.

Widespread immunisation also creates community immunity, protecting vulnerable individuals and significantly reducing the spread of diseases like polio and measles, which helps to improve global health.

Common vaccine myths include they cause autism, natural immunity is superior, and they might overwhelm the immune system. However, vaccines are rigorously tested therefore side effects are rare.

Getting vaccinated isn’t just a good idea, it’s a fundamental human right. It’s a key part of good healthcare and one of the smartest investments we can make in our health. Vaccines are important for stopping disease outbreaks and making the world healthier and are widely available at Hospitals, community health centers, private clinics and pharmacies (for certain vaccines)

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)

By choosing to immunise yourself and your family, you are not only protecting your own health but also contributing to the health and well-being of our entire community.

Active Listening

I listened intently as my friend who I have not seen in years spoke about a terrifying time in her life. What bothered me was the fact that she was surrounded by people. I know this thanks to social media. I regularly see her post of outings with friends and families.

Yet she had said “there was no one to talk to”. I had to ask about her closest friend, they were often together. She said “Oh, I talk to her, I told her everything but it’s like she’s just hearing, she’s not listening”.

Verywellmind defines active listening as “a communication skill that involves going beyond simply hearing the words that another person speaks. It’s about actively processing and seeking to understand the meaning and intent behind them”.

I asked my friend why she thought her best friend was not listening and she said “I tell her painful things about myself and in the same breath she’s making a joke about another thing. I was seeking comfort but I didn’t get any”.

James 1:19 (TPT) says “My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart; be quick to listen but slow to speak…”

A lot of people around us go through difficult situations that make it hard to talk to people. It’s sad that when they eventually talk to someone they don’t get the necessary feedback they desire.

Active listening is key in ensuring good communication with those around us.

Biblical poetry

Unity Through Favour

She sits upright

Her back perfectly stationed without visible support

Her head sits balanced, upright like a ruler

Free of any tilt or strain

She is clear on what is to come next

Presently conscious, fully confident

Free of doubt she sits boldly, proudly

Full of reassurance from feeding off his teaching

She sits fixated

Her stare is held upon him

Understanding that he has made her worthy

He has removed all physical limitation

Freed her mind from all clouds of judgement

Replaced it with a sense of accountability

The will to love without restriction

The power to rest in his sacrifice

He stands in Favour

Tall like a tree, strong like the trunk

Firm, dependable, dependent on God

Unlike the branches he is not swayed

No storm can shift him from his position

The confidence he exhibits is seducing

Luring you in to see what sits at his core

A center filled with long-suffering, tenderness, love, peace, and warmth

He stands in strength

Every receptor in his body activated

Ready to receive and translate God’s word

Into healing, miraculous miracles

He is bold, courageous, unafraid to make demands,

capable of stating his desires with the belief they can be attained

He speaks from a place of positivity

Recognising that he attracts favour & mercy

His confidence fills her with confidence.

Unified like Philippians 2:2

He stands, so she can sit

Towering over her, providing her with a covering

Receiving the anointing from God, and passing it down over his family

From his overflowing faith in God

She finds her strength.

His rooting and belief in God’s miracle

Draws her closer to her knees

His unwavering faith

Draws her palms closer together

His ability to bow to God’s will

Draws her head down in prayer

Eyes closed, fingers grasped, knees in contact with the rough surface,

She opens up her prayer with

‘Thank you Heavenly Father…’

Conclusion:

Favour refers to God’s divine approval and blessing upon an individual’s life. It is a manifestation of His love and grace, often resulting in benefits, opportunities, and success. Walking with God is essential to experiencing His favour, as it involves cultivating a deep, personal relationship with Him.

There are several ways in which one can walk in God’s favour; below are a few of them.

  • Embrace Jesus Christ as your Saviour: Recognise Jesus as the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again from the dead. Through faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God.
    • Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” – John 14:6 (NKJV)
  • Walk in Obedience: Follow God’s teachings with a sincere heart, striving to live a life that honours Him.
    • As Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” John 14:15
  • Serve Others Selflessly: Follow Jesus’ example of humility and servanthood, seeking opportunities to serve others in love
    • “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many”. Mark 10:45
  • Seek God’s Kingdom: Prioritise seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness, and trust that He will provide for our needs
    • “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”. Matthew 6:33
  • Noah found favour with God due to his obedience and faithfulness, which saved him and his family from the flood
    • “But Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord”. Genesis 6:8
  • David found favour with God through his heartfelt worship and repentance, which led to a deepening relationship with Him
    • “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will’”  Acts 13:22

You can also find and experience exceeding favour if you can walk with the Lord this month.
